2. Summer semester: course Audio-Visual Interaction

Description:

In this course we follows a wide/broad understanding of audio-visual interaction by approaching phenomenons from a situated and embodied perspective. The specific site for interactions itself is regarded as audio-visual, as comprising embedded performers, and as extended by appropriate technologies (e.g. computer vision, sensors, markers). Drawing from this field of possible situated interactions we design and develop an audiovisual Instrument for live-setups or installations. The choice of used software and hardware focusses on allowing generative and algorithmic approaches to audiovisual design and interaction design. Design strategies are demonstrated and explained by examples in Processing and SuperCollider but other languages and tools (e.g. Max/TouchDesigner) are allowed for project work. The developed audiovisual instruments are demonstrated by the students in a final presentation.

Content:

working with contemporary interfaces based on haptic (e.g. Touch OSC) and tracking (e.g. Leap Motion) .

Computer Vision as a means of interaction with environment and human & non-human agents Extended / Augmented Reality

Studying emerging techniques: eg. gaussian splatting eg. interactive generative AI
